Rather than go live at midnight like plenty of other games do on other platforms (you know, when 'release day' meant midnight), you're likely well aware by now that Monster Hunter World PC didn't release at midnight. Monster Hunter World on PC, like any other Steam release, is bound by a specific unlock timer. The day has finally arrived, but with no preload available, we must at least know when the game will unlock on Steam, right? Monster Hunter World on PC is a beast in its own right, and playing it will undoubtedly see the hours whittle away like dust.

Monster Hunter World PC Preload Times - When Can You Download The Game? Preloading passively alleviates that by allowing players to download lofty data files in their own time, meaning download servers are rarely rushed off their feet as everyone sends download requests at the same time. We'll all likely run into server issues in a popular release over the years where hundreds of thousands of players bombard log-in servers and essentially push a 'release time' back by several hours while things calm down. Preloading allows players with sluggish connections to get the more painful aspect of gaming in the digital distribution ages – after all, what's the point of a release day if a slow connection and no preload means you can't actually play it for another day or two?īut more than that it generally allows a more stable roll out. The obvious benefit here is to allow players to have the game downloaded and ready to rock for the exact moment the game officially releases, but there are a few other benefits, too. We called it "PC port perfection" for a reason. If you haven't read our review yet, maybe that's something you can do while you wait. But when the game set to go live today, just when will Capcom allow you to preload the title ready for its eventual unlock? And just when does it unlock, anyway? All the questions (and a few more) will soon be answered.įor a long time now, Valve's Steam platform has allowed those who pre-order a title to download the game in question shortly before its set to unlock and become playable. After a long time waiting since the disappointing news of a non-simultaneous release of Monster Hunter World earlier in the year, Capcom pushed ahead readied the Monster Hunter World PC port slightly ahead of their own schedule.

Then head down to the comments and let us know what you’re most excited to hunt for when Monster Hunter hits PS4 and Xbox One later this month. The day has finally arrived. To see more of the Coral Highlands, check out the new Monster Hunter: World gameplay published on Thursday. Similar situations will arise frequently in World, giving hunters a moment to rest and recuperate or dial up their damage output. The hunt is briefly interrupted when one of the Paolumu’s natural enemies wanders onto the battlefield, giving the hunter a brief window to inflict heavy damage without retribution. The new footage also offers another look at Monster Hunter: World’s “living” ecosystem. If they need to put a little distance between themselves and an aggressor, it doesn't get much easier than taking flight. Paolumus can also punish attackers by whipping them with their heavily-armored tails. They’ll happily return to the ground and chase after their prey on a pair of bipedal legs, each of which is slightly larger than the player.

The latest Monster Hunter: World trailer lets players follow along as a member of the dev team hunts the Paolumu, a flying, bat-like mammal(?) that calls the Coral Highlands home. Monster Hunter fans were also treated to the aforementioned Slide Attack demo and now Capcom has produced another nine minutes of narrated gameplay. The game’s producer also explained why we’re waiting so much longer for the game’s PC port and shared his thoughts on loot crates. Capcom published more information, including the preload window and start/end times, for next week’s MHW beta. It’s been a busy week for the Monster Hunter marketing team. It wasn’t quite as enlightening as yesterday’s introduction to Slide Attacks but the new MHW trailer is at least a bit more entertaining than yesterday’s baffling, minute-long video. Nine minutes of new Monster Hunter: World gameplay debuted Thursday, offering another look at the Coral Highlands while we wait for the game’s late January debut.
